Greystones United AFC is committed to ensuring that all necessary steps are taken to protect and safeguard the welfare of children who participate in football. This Child Protection Policy clearly demonstrates the importance placed by the Club on the protection and safety of children involved in football.
All players should be able to participate in football in a safe and enjoyable environment, free from abuse - whether physical, emotional, sexual, neglect, or bullying. The responsibility for protecting children lies with all adults involved in the Club.
The Club recognises and accepts responsibility to safeguard the welfare of all players, particularly children, by protecting them from harm. Through clear policies, practices, and procedures, alongside relevant training programs, the Club ensures that everyone understands their responsibilities regarding child protection.
It is vital that children participating in Club activities do so in a safe, enjoyable, and high-quality environment.
To achieve this, the Club will:
- Inform all members (coaches, players, parents, and spectators) of their responsibilities regarding child welfare and protection.
- Ensure Garda Vetting and Safeguarding training is completed by all volunteers and staff working with children in our club. All staff and volunteers must be over the age of 16.
- Operate within the recommended FAI codes of conduct and best practice guidelines.
- Appoint a Club Children’s Officer/Child Welfare Officer in line with FAI requirements
All adult volunteers must actively promote safe and best practice standards while remaining vigilant and aware of their responsibilities toward children.
